Kali graduated in 2011 with a degree in Jewellery Design, awarded by Middlesex University. On graduation she secured a position working for the metalsmith Clive Burr, who is now based at the Goldsmiths’ Centre. The work at Clive’s was diverse and encompassed both bespoke pieces and small limited-edition batches for private clients as well as large established names. 

In 2014, Kali completed a master’s degree at the Royal College of Art. For the subsequent four years she developed her own practice, working for other craftspeople, which led to a teaching position at the British Academy of Jewellery.  At the end of 2018 she left her teaching position to focus on her own business, working to bespoke commission from her studio in South London.

Hepworth is Kali’s debut demi-fine collection. Each of the twelve pieces that comprise the collection are created using small batch production methods, and finished in her studio in South London. The bold fluid forms are designed using vanguard technology and reference abstract art, organic textures, powerful natural processes such as erosion, as well as the sculpture the collection’s namesake Barbara Hepworth. First 3D printed in wax, each piece is then cast in recycled bronze and once finished, plated with 18ct yellow gold. Bronze signifies ancient artisanal practice, as well as being a material Barbara Hepworth often chose to work with. From statement works such as the Hepworth Necklace and Ripple Hoops, to the smallest jewel in the collection, the Ear Cuff, Kali intends each piece to be an inspiration to the wearer as well as the viewer.
