She currently lives in London working to establish her jewellery brand, MuseLi-Q, alongside a position as a part-time research fellow at Monash University-Suzhou, China.
Qiang founded MuseLi-Q jewellery in 2021 to explore fun and quirky jewellery creations with emotion and warmth, through concept, design and craft practice. She is inspired by Steve Jobs’ quote: “People don’t know what they want until you show it to them”.
Qiang’s work has won internationally renowned awards including Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council Awards in 2021 and 2022; the Award for the Most Popular Design in China-Italy Youth Future Fashion Design Competition 2021, and it has featured in exhibitions in Switzerland, Italy, China, the United Kingdom, America, Australia, and Hungary.
Qiang Li’s Muesli Collection is fun and quirky jewellery that explores the differences between Chinese and English food cultures. Food and jewellery share many of the same emotional connections of desire and enjoyment. To Qiang, muesli is magic, like a bowl of treasure that has lots imaginative possibilities. People have their favourite taste and memories of muesli.
The Muesli Collection began by questioning eastern and western breakfasts and then expanded into other treats that trigger sensory interactions. Breakfast can create memories about a person, a family, a place, a city, a country. Eastern treats include dumplings and dim sum and western treats include croissants, toast, and pancakes. Qiang explores how people in different cultures start their day – breakfast is when the day’s adventures begin!
